Full-Time Food Service Teammate
Employer: Northeast Grocery | Market 32, Price Chopper, and Tops
Location: Marlborough, MA (onsite)
Pay: $15.75–$20.00 / hour (listed $15.75)
Type: Full-time — Food Service / Grocery Deli
What You’ll Do:
• Provide fast, friendly, helpful service to customers at the food service station (prepare, finish, and plate food to corporate specs).
• Maintain a clean, sanitized workstation and follow 5S standards and state/corporate food-safety rules (cold case logs, hot food logs, cooling logs).
• Perform sampling and suggestive selling; ensure accuracy of customer special orders.
• Merchandise food products to company guidelines and assist with inventory/shrink-control procedures.
• Operate basic POS/computer tasks and support daily opening/closing or restock duties as assigned.
• Follow uniform policy, assist with cleaning (including chip/cookware cleaning tasks), and perform other duties per manager direction.
Why It Stands Out:
• Clear hourly wage band and immediate entry-level opportunity with potential to earn up to $20/hr depending on role/experience.
• Steady, full-time scheduling in a grocery/food-service environment—good for reliable hourly income and benefits eligibility.
• Hands-on role that builds food-prep, customer service, and retail food-production skills—useful for hospitality/culinary career paths.
Potential Trade-offs:
• Physically active shift work: standing, lifting, repetitive tasks, and routine cleaning required.
• Typical grocery hours include early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holiday peaks.
• Corporate standards/food-safety logs require attention to detail and documentation.
• Entry pay near minimum of range; higher pay may require tenure, skill, or promotion.
Qualifications / Requirements:
• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Strong communication, basic literacy, and basic computer skills.
• Ability to follow food-safety, sanitation, and corporate preparation standards.
• Satisfactory performance reviews and ability to work reliably on assigned shifts.
• No formal education required.
Perks / Benefits:
• Hourly pay within $15.75–$20.00 range and opportunity for pay growth.
• Eligible for company benefits where applicable (confirm with hiring manager).
• On-the-job training in food prep, safety, merchandising, and customer service.
• Work in a community-facing role with frequent customer interaction.

Would you take this job?
If you were applying, what would be your top three non-negotiables: (A) confirmed starting hourly rate + clear path to raises/steps, (B) predictable schedule and shift stability (including weekend expectations), or (C) paid training + clear food-safety certification support (e.g., manager/ServSafe access)? Which would you pick and why — and what would you ask the hiring manager before accepting (for example: “What is the exact starting rate for this role and how are raises determined?”, “What does a typical weekly schedule look like and how far in advance is it posted?”, “Is training paid and will the employer cover or provide food-safety certification?”)?
