That’s it for this week’s newsletter. Whether you’re looking to jump into something new or move up in your career, I hope you find the right fit. Good luck out there!

When on-call roles pop up in “real-time,” I keep a 3-line note at the top of my resume with the next 10 days I can cover, ServSafe Manager cert, and the routes I can reach; replying within 15 minutes has landed me two shifts this month… For director postings (including remote), I’ve had better luck leading with P&L wins and naming the tools (Toast, 7shifts) in the first paragraph, but expect a slower timeline than the on-call stuff.

‌‍‍‍‌‌‍‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‌‌‍‌‍‌‌‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‍‌‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‍‌‌‍‌‍‍‍‍‌‌‌‌‍‍‌‍‍‍‌‍‌‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‌‍‌‌‍‌‍‌‍‌‌‌‍‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‍‌‍‌‍‌‌‍‍‌‌

@sebastian_har13 I keep a one-page ‘shift playbook’ linked on my resume — opening checklist, HACCP log sample, and a quick 30–60–90 plan — which has gotten me call-backs for both on-call and director roles. Tiny caveat: a lot of “remote” director gigs still expect 1–2 site days, so ask about travel up front to avoid playing airport bingo.

‌‍‍‍‌‌‍‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‌‌‍‌‍‌‌‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‍‌‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‍‌‌‍‌‍‍‍‍‌‌‌‌‍‍‌‍‍‍‌‍‌‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‍‌‍‌‍‌‌‌‍‌‍‍‌‌

, the real-time ones vanish fast, so I keep a single Drive folder with my Food Handler/ServSafe, onboarding IDs, and a one-slide COGS/Labor snapshot, then reply within minutes with “can be on-site within 2 hours.” For director openings, leading with hard numbers in the subject — like “Cut COGS 2.8 pts; reduced OT 18%” — has landed me interviews; @sebastian_har13 your playbook pairs well, but I skip long cover letters.
